Fear Is My Homeboy: How to Slay Doubt, Boss Up, and Succeed on Your Own Terms
If you love empowering non-fiction books like "You are a Badass" by Jen Sincero, "Girl Wash Your Face" by Rachel Hollis, or "5-Second Rule" by Mel Robbins you'll love Fear Is My Homeboy.

Great concepts. Needs more editing.
This is an excellent book filled with wonderful and empowering concepts. The author is funny and provides common-sense and meaningful advice about embracing fear that could better the lives of others; however, the book has careless spelling errors and a bunch of grammatical mistakes that cause the reader to pause and reread sentences. I believe that if it went through one more round of edits and revisions, with a new pair of eyes, it would easily obtain 5 stars and truly shine in the way that it's intended to shine.
Get over yourself
How many ways can we say the same thing? Just do it. Get off the couch. Nothing happens unless you make it happen. How about you work on something instead of reading another book about why you aren’t working on something
This book, this book, THIS BOOK!!
I first met Judi at MPI WEC in Las Vegas 2017 and have been following her journey closely since then. I have been eagerly anticipating her book release and when it arrived I was thrilled. There were many favorite parts of the book but let me highlight my top 7: 1) I love how Judi uses a variety of quotes to start off each chapter. I am a sucker for a good quote. 2) I really appreciated the stories that Judi used throughout the entire book from her personal experience as well as observations she had from her peers and mentors. It gave the book a much more "real" feeling that other books which stay at too high a level and are impersonal. 3) I also respected how Judi consistently gave different mentors and authors credit when she discussed successful strategies and action plans she learned and practiced. Loved that. 4) The chapter on saying "YES" to a variety of opportuntiies that come to you when they come really resonated with me. I find too many people say "NO" and then regret it lately and this chapter hit home. Ironically, I have already been practicing this mindset for several years and reading it in the book made me nod my head and whisper "I knew I was on the right path." 5) I also enjoyed how each chapter had a theme and the final chapter tied all the themes back together with definitive action steps and suggestions. Excellent way to tell the story. 6) I could relate to the different times Judi would mention that even though she didn't have a strong relationship with her mom, she still was able to find a maternal role model and did not allow this to stop her from succeeding. Another very real and relatable element of the book. 7) Finally, I love that Judi is unashamed for her love of hip-hop (I love hip-hop too) and spoke about how when she finally embraced this love, she was able to really find her ideal clients and her tribe. Great quick story that makes me love the story even more. I highly recommend the book and will be adding it to my Reading LIst for my college classes. Can't wait for the next book!!
Looooove this book!
I read Judi's book in one day and let me tell you- it is full of creative, unique and empowering thoughts and ideas for embracing fear and not letting it control you! Judi's personal anecdotes and her relatable and personable style make this an easy read and I truly feel like many of her suggestions can be easily adapted and used by anyone to overcome obstacles and at the same time, challenge yourself to be brave. Judi and I share the same hero- Brene Brown- and I love that she incorporated strategies and quotes from many of her role models and heroes to demonstrate her personal growth process and how others influenced her path in life:) I could have highlighted practically the entire book - this is such a great resource for personal growth and I plan to read it over and over again. Thanks Judi! Xo, Renee
Don’t let self-doubt stop you!!
This book speaks to my soul!! I had a three hour layover, at an airport that is three hours from my home, today after a vacation with my son to see family. It was frustrating in the beginning moments but I quickly became grateful for the situation. If we hadn’t been stuck in an airport for an additional three hours I wouldn’t have gotten much reading done. It truly was a blessing in disguise the Universe telling me to slow down for a moment. Friend, I hope you read this book. I hope you soak up as many nuggets of wisdom as I have. If you could see my book, there are underlined passages, circles, stars and notes on the pages (pink pen is ROCKING this book). This book is getting so much love from me!! Friend, you get to choose how you show up. You get to choose how you respond. You get to choose what nuggets of wisdom to soak up into your life. Make it this book + soak up these nuggets. You won’t be disappointed.
You HAVE to buy this book. 10/10
Hands down one of the best books I’ve ever read. 10/10 would absolutely recommend. I actually reached out to Judi herself on her personal Instagram account and she sent a voice message back in response. She’s the real deal and I’m SO glad I bought this. Worth every single penny. The writing style is extremely easy to follow along and read. She is so relatable. I can’t wait to finish this book. It’s so so hard to put it down.
This is such a great read for professional development that I don't want to end!!
I am loving the confidence this book is giving me to BOSS UP and become a better leader but also to help me organize my days to make it all work! The author teaches you to protect your assets at all cost which are YOU! Just like a CEO protects their organization. This could be a quick and easy read to go through because it is so good, but I am enjoying taking it slow and soaking it all in. I literally have dog ear's and sticky notes of takeaways and quotes throughout each chapter of this book! I am almost at the end but I don't want it too! I recently started following Judi Holler on Instagram and watching her stories. Oh, I just love her fun personality!! She reminds me of myself and the gives me the energy I crave on a hard day! I am excited for what else this author will bring to the world next! Fear is my homeboy is a must read for any woman running her own business or being a successful confident BOSS! Anyone can take these nuggets she teaches and use them to move forward and grow!
Fantastic Read!
This book is a fantastic read! I read it on vacation laying by the pool in less than 2 days. What I found most valuable was that the author provides very tangible information and insight on how to do the things she writes about. I appreciate that each chapter ends in a very useable summary that will be easy to go back to for reference when I want to brush up on what I learned. The book has a fun and positive vibe and leaves the reader feeling like they are capable and have the tools to make big leaps in any aspect of their life. I felt that this book is about much more than overcoming fear and is a great add to my collection of personal development tools and resources.
You have to Slay to Play!
One of my takeaways is that - if you want to realize your dreams...you have to Slay to Play. You can't sit around waiting to be discovered. Or find the money. Or any other excuse. Just get out there and start Slaying. Fear is my Homeboy delivers all kinds of smart, immediate, action plans for turning your overall mindset around. Judi is funny, thoughtful, brilliant, shiny and fabulous and she speaks directly to you like a close friend, coach and mentor. She offers a clear roadmap for making changes that set you up to achieve the life you want and it would be seriously hard not to be motivated by her boundless energy. This was one of the few times I've read a self-help book and had a clear vision of what I need to do next - at the end of the book. So thank you so much for putting this into the world!!! Read this book. Tell your friends. Let's all root for each other and put some awesomeness into the world!
#FearBoss is my new mantra
I saw Judi's keynote at Imaging USA back in January and it blew my mind. I pre-ordered this book and couldn't wait to dive in. Once I got it though, it was tough to stick with it - but in a good way. It really makes you stop and think, and reflect, and get out of your comfort zone. After purchasing the hardback, I realized that I needed to be able to catch up on bits while on the run. So I bought the Kindle version too. Between both copies, I've finished reading it cover to cover probably twice. I bookmarked, and highlighted, and took notes. I keep going back to it. In a nutshell, it's changed my life. Thanks Judi! :)
